Matthew Lakes, a 28-year old Wilmington resident and guitar player for ten years, has played in bands and has sat in as a guest for groups since 1998. He is a self-taught and disciplined player who knows the basics for beginners and can delve into theory and composition for advanced and intermediate players. His teaching methods help a student to learn to interpret music and songs and for the player to develop their own personal style along the way.
He graduated from Wilmington High School in 1998 and from Miami University of Ohio in 2003 with a bachelors degree in English Journalism.
Matt is currently employed as maintenance technician at an 11-story high rise building in Dayton, and will be teaching weeknights and weekends at For A Song and A Story.
