My musical background has been quite varied from classical to jazz. In the late fifties I studied clarinet with Dr. Donald McGinnis at the Ohio State University and in 1960 I was a solo clarinetist in what was then the All Ohio Boys Band that performed at the Ohio State Fair. Upon graduation from high school in 1961 I spent the next three years in US Army. After my discharge in 1964 I began night school at what is now Wright State University and in 1968 transferred to the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. In 1971 I became a fulltime professional musician touring with a four man show group called "The Colleagues". We toured the US and Canada working show rooms, hotels, conventions, and state fairs. We worked Las Vegas, Reno, Tahoe, Hawaii, the Virgin Islands and more. I continued with that group until 1980. Since that time I have performed with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, the Springfield Symphony, and the Middletown Symphony. I have played in a number of musicals at Wright State University, Wilmington College, Kuss Auditorium in Springfield, the Victoria Theater and Schuster Center in Dayton, and Music Hall in Cincinnati. Instruments that I have had to play are Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Soprano Sax, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Piccolo, Flute and Alto Flute. Presently I am the lead Alto Saxophonist for the Dayton Jazz Orchestra. I have worked with artists such as the O.J.'s, Natalie Cole, Ray Charles, Doc Severinsen, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Bobby Vinton, Pat Boone, Andy Williams, Rosemary Clooney, the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, the Harry James Orchestra, and the Billy May Orchestra. I have organized and performed stage shows in which I have arranged all of the music both vocally and instrumentally and conducted the orchestra.
