Hello! I'm Amanda Wyatt and I absolutely love being a mother and teaching. I began teaching in 2002 while I was working on my Piano/ Choral Education Degree at Northern Kentucky University. I added Piano Pedagogy to my course work and graduated in 2005. From this point, life gets pretty busy! In 2006, I married and moved to Ohio. In 2007, I began teaching at For A Song And A Story. We had our first of three sons in 2008. I became Kindermusik Certified and taught general music classes to children ages 1-7. Since 2015, I have been teaching Music full time at Wilmington Christian Academy. Having taught in several different ways allows me to make every lesson for every student unique to fit their needs. My students have ranged in age from 4 to 85. I genuinely believe everyone is capable of making music and it should be enjoyed by all.
I was born and raised in Ohio, but after I married, we moved to Virginia and then Florida. When my husband and I first married, we didn't have any furniture except the bedroom set my parents gave us. But I needed a piano! We bought a brand new, all wooden Baldwin and that's the instrument I still have and play. I'm the mom of 7- 5 sons, 2 daughters. Our family has been a source of joy and love for us. The piano is an instrument that people of any age can play- push down a key and a note is sounded. Knowing the piano keyboard helps every student understand music theory because it provides clear visual demonstration. Playing increases cognitive skills for children to elderly people, soothes emotions, improves hand eye coordination, concentration and much more. I have been teaching piano in Ohio since 2002. Helping my students learn piano is very rewarding, and such a privilege. I believe learning piano is a rich and satisfying experience for each student.
